Concept:
Inspired by a quote by M.C. Escher: “Order is repetition of units. Chaos is multiplicity without rhythm” this project experiments with repetition through order, resulting on an apparent chaos. For some order can be considered as beauty, for others chaos as well. This reflection brings out the question: “Can beauty be created by juxtaposing two antagonistic concepts, co-existing one single, tangible, ornamental object?
Design:
By using a generative modeling software, I created an algorithm to control an elemental shape (the constant), repeated through a virtual grid. The size of this element grows in function by the position of a specific point (the variable) on space. As this point is being moved, the pattern will change.The result was subtracted and transformed into five different brooches that shows the result of the unification between Chaos and Order. These brooches can only be produced by stereolitography.
