Officina Corpuscoli – System Synthetics-installation overview.jpg

Client: Officina Corpuscoli

Concept:

Officina Corpuscoli approached us with an unusual request: Could we create a tridimensional representation of a synthetic micro-organism that does not exist?

This sculpture represents a synthetic micro-organism with the ability to degrade plastic and transform it into biofuel. More than 100 single elements where individually made, adjusted and attached into a general structure that could support itself.

The result was a high tech multi-material 3D printed sculpture. This object was exhibited at the Netherland's Natural History Museum, in January 2012 as part of “System Simthetics”, Officina Corpuscoli’s  project developed for D&A4GA.

Concept by Maurizio Montalti.

Design:

3D modeling, structural engineering and file preparation for rapid prototyping.
